Read the full storyBeverley is the East Riding’s county town, with the Minster at one end, the market in the middle and the Westwood pasture running up to the racecourse. It is where the council sits, and it is where this site starts.
The council’s area goes a long way past it. Cottingham and Hessle are effectively Hull’s edge, Bridlington and Hornsea are on the coast, Driffield sits in the wolds, Goole is a working port on the Ouse, and Pocklington is out towards York. None of them thinks it is any of the others. What they share is East Riding of Yorkshire Council, which decides planning, bins, roads, licensing and council tax for all of them. Hull is a separate authority entirely, and we are clear about that line. We read the published record and report what it says with a link to the document.
